Use of Existing Staff

Instead of looking to hire external consultants to produce reports, consider the internal staff who will be able to do so. There are a range of highly qualified individuals within your existing staff, even if their job roles don't necessarily immediately reflect their skills. An internal database of skills/qualifications would allow you to use your own staff instead of looking elsewhere. Even if they have to be seconded for the project, there is still likely to be a cost saving.

Why the contribution is important

This promotes growth and development of staff, while also reducing the cost of external consultancy firms (which is often derided by the public and press, as well as being expensive).
