    Thank you for your comment.

Accordingly, moderators reserve the right to remove posts which do not address some aspect of that purpose. We value your time and input, and our desire is to remove as few posts as possible while ensuring that a focused, constructive discussion takes place.

Karen, I was very surprised to read that moderators are removing public posts.

When you say "moderators reserve the right to remove posts which do not address some aspect of (ideas on achieving budget savings and efficiencies)" it unfortunately creates an impression that whilst popularly elected politicians want to encourage a wide an open range of ideas from the general public, unelected public servants are censoring what they personally don't like on flimsy grounds.

I am sure that this is not the case and not the impression you wish to get out into the public domain.

For clarity on what grounds do the moderators remove public contributions - for example many contributions are about increasing revenue as well as saving costs. Is that something public service moderators don't want to have posted here?

Or are the unspecified moderators removing comments they personally feel to be trivial - which in a brainstorming exercise of this kind is poor practice not good practice.

Or are the posts being removed of a personal and offensive nature?

Can you elaborate a bit more please?

Hmm.. so in what way did my comment supporting the privatisation of Manx Radio warrant being removed?
  • Posted by commonsense April 18, 2017 at 09:05

probably because it breached the terms and conditions of the site
    it was a duplicate thread
    it added nothing to anything

So far, out of 525 ideas posted up, only 17 ideas have been removed (3.2%). This was either because they were an exact duplicate, the original poster asked us to remove an idea, or it contained personal information or inappropriate usernames, links or memes. See moderation policy for our guidelines on this.

7 threads have been closed to further comment, mostly because they are off-topic and generating discussion that takes away from the main purpose of the site.

Some comments have been removed - if you believe a comment has been removed in error please contact us via the contact form at the bottom of the page or email
