School text books

Roll over the books that's kids use in school to the following school year or topic instead of giving them new books to write in at every opportunity. Or better still use folders that they can add  loose sheets to so that they are only provided with what they need.

Why the contribution is important

The amount of waste paper that is produced when every subject studied gets a new book when some are barely completed is shocking let alone the waste of money. If a child fills their book just before the term finishes they can have as little as one or two pages completed before they are thrown away.

    1 book
    1 subject
    1 teacher
different subjects, different teachers, different times.

Not sure I follow your comment 'common sense', but at primary school the children have 1 teacher but multiple books for each subject/topic. Many of these books come home at the end of the school year with barely anything in them!

Up to date textbooks for IGCSE and A level students or equivalent are the single most important key to success in public examinations together with past papers and markschemes. New syllabuses require new textbooks and new specimen papers. these are the last things you should cut in a school budget if you want a well qualified workforce, and they should be bought by the schools!

Agree Madeline I was referring to the books the kids write in at primary school, for example each term they have a new topic and receive a new book. Some kids barely fill a few pages before the topic changes and off they go again with another new book. End of the school year all the part filled books get taken home. The books could easily be rolled over to the next year etc..
