Review the numbers of new vehicles purchased by Government departments.

The DOI seems to have an endless supply of new vehicles, as does Bus Vannin. Manx Post also appears to have an ever increasing number of new vans. Would it not be cheaper to rationilise this expenditure , check on the need for so many vehicles, and keep and maintain them for longer.

How much has been spent in the last 3 years by all Government Departments on new vehicles?

Why the contribution is important

An overview of Government expenditure on this problem is long overdue.

Government should be looking at all pool vehicles being replaced with only hybrid or full electric vehicles which would lower emissions and by example start to lead the transport infrastructure down a cleaner route. Electric vehicles are more costly to purchase however the lower running costs and maintenance would offset the overall cost to government.

Scrutinise the need more. Clearly departments have money to burn. Does anybody that works for Government not have a vehicle supplied? It is utterly ridiculous also to be buying high specification vehicles which many of them are. Well suggested J B.
