Elderly lady who gets Paracetamol in a medicine cassette as she can't remember when to take her meds and has it delivered as she is housebound. How does she pay for Paracetamol as drivers can't accept money ? There will always be variables to this pay for ALL over the counter meds but I agree it needs to be tightened up as at may prevent wasting Doctors time and payment by NHS for some things which could be paid for by patients intent on 'getting their money's worth' out of everything.
By the way, people who pay for prescriptions would often times be better off buying meds as it can be cheaper than prescription charge and we do point this out where appropriate.
Prescription charges are too low and would still be half of English even at £4.50 per item up from £3.85 . I have seen tourists who save their prescription to get it here as it saves them a LOT of money!
The whole thing about prescriptions is confused, costly and leaking much needed money from our heAlth care area which is sorely needed.
