Missed Doctor's Appointments - 3 strikes and you're out

Our Dr's surgery had 132 missed appointments in January 2017 alone.  This is disgraceful.  Wasting doctor's valuable time and taking appointments away from people who can't get one on that day.  These appointments are valuable and patients need to know that and respect it.

Anyone not turning up for 2-3 appointments to be contacted and charged for failure to attend.  Also this would keep us up to date on the people who register for doctors then disappear, move and fail to report they have left so keeps records up to date.  More efficient use of surgery's time.

Why the contribution is important

Because out dr's surgery had 132 missed appointments in Jan 2017 and we have a large waiting list to get any appointment and the doctors time is wasted.

Social and personal responsibility should be encouraged at all levels and failure to attend appointments has at the moment no repercussions. It should be made plain to people that failure to attend an appointment delays treatment and costs society more ultimately.
No appointment should be made without checking a patients attendance record. People who miss appointments should receive lower priority as a minimum.

It's a sign of the times that people have no regard for others. An old thing called conscience seems to be sadly lacking and no concept of shame enters the head of those that don't bother to inform of non attendance even though it is common knowledge that appointments are being wasted at a high rate and complaints of inability to get an appointment are increasing also.We live in an ' entitled' society where self importance is positively encouraged and common courtesy is seen as weakness to be stamped on. I am sure challenging these time wasters would get a tirade of abuse or a rant about their 'rights'. Whatever happened to Responsiblility? It used to go along with Rights as a package but the European Court put paid to that. Charges for missed appointments are the answer and if ALL the surgeries brought it in at the same time it would work well.Amazing how a fine can sharpen the memory up and discretion could be applied to elderly or mentally infirm.

Missed appointments should be expected. This gives the opportunity to spent more time with the individuals or not run late because it gives the doctor extra time.
It should be possible to just turn up and see a doctor without an appointment for urgent problems like you can in other countries.
