Local assessors for grading

Stop employing consultants from England to grade tourism accommodation/restaurants. Get a local resident trained as an assessor under the visitengland scheme and self certificate.

Why the contribution is important

Save on the various consultants salary, accommodation, flight, and expenses. Benefit from local employment i.e. Income tax/ni contributions, spread the inspections over a 12 month period.

how long before each inspector is known and before you start complaining that a place doesn't deserve it's good/bad rating?
the whole idea is that the inspector stays in a place with out them knowing, so that the service etc is as it would normally be.
if you knew who the inspector was, you would naturally fall over yourself to make the stay absolutely perfect, this defeats the whole object of the inspection.

That's rubbish, the inspectors are all from a small UK company currently and are well known to everyone in the industry already as they give presentations etc at all the IoM gov industry days. It's not a "secret" inspection, you know in advance when they are coming to inspect your property. the gov book them in and pay for the accommodation in advance! It would suit a retired industry person who could be paid per visit, no paying for accommodation, flights etc.
