Legalise Assisted Dying

Tynwald should be bold and ahead of the game - legalise assisted dying and provide a Dignitas type facility to ease suffering by patients and their families enduring incurable and painful disease or irreversible coma.  Its 2017 folks!  As well as providing a humane service just htink of he free publicity and the benefits for the beleaguered tourist industry which would boost many areas of the economy by people coming from UK, Europe and beyond.

I agree wholeheartedly with this post. For those that need to end their lives, let's make it possible. It would also provide huge financial savings but this would be secondary to the needs of the individual.

I've yet to make a Living Will which is not recognised legally, just an indication of wishes. But I have told my daughter that if my mind has gone away playing with the fairies, I'm sitting in my own mess i.e. wearing a big nappy and I get a chest infection, just to let it take me with no treatment. Assisted dying would be so much kinder. To me and to family who have to watch me suffering.

Oh, forgot to point out that it will also save money! Assuming mine has run out and the government are subsidizing my care.

Couldn't agree more. In fact I posted the same idea before I saw this post
