Improve Marina Facilities

Currently the Marina facilities are poorly set up, to shallow and tide dependant. Inproving Marina faciltites would facilitate more sport tourists, and maximise use of the facilities

Why the contribution is important

, underutilised  facilities cause additional expense

The Island does not have a marina.

There are two half-tide docks which allow more vessels in restricted areas but do not increase access to open water.

The first one should have been built in Port St Mary.

There is no river bringing detritus into the harbour and therefore there will be no ongoing issues about removing silt unlike Peel and Douglas where the dredging costs will outweigh any commercial benefit.
There is no need for a road or footbridge.

Build a lock gate/tidal flap, pile the harbour, add some pontoons and fill in the inner end to provide car/boat parking.

One in Port St Mary would be brilliant

Couldn't agree more. Missed opportunity in past that needs picking up again.

The new moorings in Port St Mary must be costing an absolute fortune, they started in december and still haven't finished putting them in!
