Heritage railways

Please transfer all heritage to Manx national heritage.

Why the contribution is important

This would put our historic railways in the hands of people who care. If managed correctly it can reshape the story of Mann and encourage tourism.

Moving stuff round Government does not save any money at all.

Government should give the running of our Heritage Railways out to voluntary groups. It would save a fortune for essential services.

Mnh is a registered charity, this could be used to more effect to raise funds and to gain volunteers. Saving money must also be to about generating funds for the economy too.

Yes give them to Volunteers and raise money at same time. And cut Civil Servants in MNH.

So MNH is a charity so I would therefore expect that those who work for them are employed by Manx National Heritage and not IOM Government. It would be great to see The Railways run by a charity but I suspect it would need some form of government support.
The railways are a fantastic asset and an to the Isle of Man Experience I suspect we could cop with fewer trains , trams and still maintain the railway experience

The expertise of running and promoting Heritage transport should lie jointly with the Director of Public Transport and MNH. Complementary expertise is preferable
