Government Retirees - Returning to work for Government

It appears to be a trend at present where many Government retirees (mainly Police) return to work on fixed contracts after retiring.

I have a son who would love to get a job in the Government but he can't because many of the positions are being back filled by retiring Government employees.

Can Mr Malarkey have a look at this anomoly and make it fairer for our kids to get jobs insttead of retired Police Officers taking up roles in the Financial Supervision Unit and Communications Division (all Department of Home Affairs).

These people have served there career, now please let our kids get a foot on the ladder for them to have a career.

Why the contribution is important

Retirees are given a Pension from the IOM Government, they have completed their service, lets get our kids to work, that way they can get mortages and buy a car and put money back into the economy, surely this is a fair way of ensuring our kids are given a fighting chance of work instead of giving a Government retiree another wage!

I have a lot of sympathy for MrBill and his son.
There should be a total and legal ban on this practice.
Little wonder the Island has the problems it has with so many disgustingly greedy Government retirees jumping on this bandwagon.

Has anybody thought that maybe these departments need the expertise and skills that these people have spent years accumulating - but I also think that new employees could learn a lot from working along side these experienced retirees.

I would also like to highlight that once a worker has retired they no longer actually contribute to the ever decreasing pension pot, which the government want to avoid.,
Perhaps structured succession planning within the varying department in order to ensure that the expertise has already been passed on would be a more logical solution.
I know this is not easy but it should be where we are aiming to have an island fit for the future.

In other Local Governments, it is not allowed for someone who retires to come back and earn more than their previous salary when their retirement pension is INCLUDED! In practice people come back to do specific tasks becasue their expertise are REQUIRED not because they can make substantial monetary gains from the tax payer.
