Convert to LED Lighting in All Government Buildings

LED lights are really a no brainer in efficiency and ongoing running costs.

They are cheaper to run and can last longer than alternatives.

They are also very easy to automate, sensors can switch on and off efficiently.

Why the contribution is important

Initial costs offset by ongoing long term savings

Reducing emissions

Increased lighting level

Better for health

How would this result in the taxpayer saving any money? The taxpayer is the guarantor for the loan that the MEA took out to build the power plant that is supplying electricity to the government. If the government uses less electricity, its bills go down, but the loan still needs to be paid off. If income from selling electricity does not cover the MEA's costs.. its down to the taxpayer to make up the shortfall.

Really? I can't wait to see the welfare queue outside private houses and down the street! How do you propose working from home working for people whose jobs include referring to materials stored in paper form - maybe they could take a bus to a central repository to collect info? So we are going to sell all the Police Stations, hospital, water treatments works, prison, courthouses, sea terminal, airport, PSV depot..... oh what a great idea - I can have a hospital bed in my lounge while a car is being inspected in my garage and my missus can hand out dole money through the kitchen window?!

    Mind boggling suggestion!!
