car parking charges at nobles hospital

introduce car parking charges to nobles hospital and reduce the number of cars parked for the day while the owners are in town working etc.

Why the contribution is important

many of the cars being parked at nobles hospital are people not actually attending the hospital. they are leaving the car while they go into to town for work. basically leaving the nobles hospital site.

those attending clinics and the hospital site could have the parking tickets validated in some way so that the parking remained free for them to use.

Car Parking charges are a slippery slope.
It is a stress to keep feeding the meter. And feels like a tax on the ill.
    Keep it free if possible.

Agree that hospital parking should be free but more vigilance by parking attendants checking who is parking before 9a.m. And noting car numbers then speaking to drivers about repeated 'visits' would help.I am sure a retired person would take this on for free,I know I would! Also,I know Nobles won awards for design ect but that vast driveway with huge grass verges seems a little too wasteful and the original car park woefully inadequate from the very day of opening. When I was there recently I could not turn a corner in the car park as so many cars were parked in the lanes between the bays. There is a overflow car park which has always got spaces. If parking needs a charge then make it a small one which could pay for more attendants.

I don't agree to parking charges if a person is parking there to use the hospital. Charges would be like taxing the sick! The more need you have the more you pay.

Why not attach a tear off dated parking permit to appointment letters. Or have a bar code on the letter which opens a barrier.

It would put an end to the islands largest park & ride.

I agree with brockley. Good idea about the parking permit added to appointment letters but tough on people admitted via A&E or people visiting patients, i.e. There for genuine reasons.

The park and ride and all the other comments can be addressed by having the charge/meters.

the clinics, wards, etc can simply validate the ticket in some way, making it free for those that had a genuine reason for the visit to nobles. what ever that reason maybe. it would also cover all aspect of visiting nobles.

to validate a ticket it could be as simple as swapping it for one with a bar code on that does not get charged, the ticket being retained by the machine to stop that being abused as well.

I don't agree with parking charges there given the circumstances that MOST (not all) people who use the hospital car park are there for, what if you drive there and end up admitted for a day/or more in an emergency leaving your car outside - it wouldn't be fair to rack up a bill for that.

Having regular attendance at hospital in recent months I do agree that it is a nightmare to find a park 95% of the time, having to do laps until someone leaves or having to park in an unofficial spot on the road if there just aren't any spaces.

What about people who park selfishly taking up 2 spaces as well?!
