A few ideas

Hi, a few ideas:

- IOM healthcare - there should be a small cost per appointment. If everyone was charged £5 per appointment then this could offset the massive healthcare bill.

- Improve technology so that people do not have to travel off island to meet consultants, they should be able to have conference calls saving travel costs and giving people to better quality consultants.

- I constantly hear bad stories about both the hospital and IOM GPs, their knowledge is not up to scratch and it takes many costly visits to even get to the correct person. More direct links with specialists would reduce the many appointments.

- review what medication is free, painkilllers should not be free

Why the contribution is important

IOM healthcare is very poor, yet costing a fortune. It must be an area of great change and improvements in future years.

How about extending this a bit further. Let us charge £5.00 per GP visit for those in full employment but don't charge for subscriptions. Anything that is free at point of access will always be abused so a small fee to see a GP will help with non attendances. Meanwhile the way medical subscriptions currently are administered is archaic and needs modernising.
Finally let's see figures for waiting times to see your GP from time booked to going through the door. How much time is lost in work time sitting in the GP waiting room waiting to see the doctor.
It can be over an hour after your appointment time! Most frustrating.
