SAFETY ON NARROW STREETS IMPEDED AS ACCESS IMPOSSIBLE FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES

Strand Street in Peel  is a particularly narrow street.

Bin wagons have on several occasions driven on the tiny pavement immediately outside the cottages  in order to get past parked vehicles on the other side of the road culminating in ‘wall plant pots’ on the wall, outside the cottages, being smashed.

The danger is that a child or even a  disabled  person might have been walking out of the door at that time and they could’ve been killed. In fact anybody at all!

1 -  Parking needs to be limited at the narrowest part of the narrow streets in Peel.

2 -  Protecting posts need to be inserted (same as on Beach Street) to give safety to those coming out of the cottages and also the ones walking along the pavements.

Why the contribution is important

This is a serious health and safety issue and needs to be addressed immediately.

Emergency vehicles  currently have no access down these narrow streets. Ambulances and fire engines must have access.

The people living in the cottages are in danger currently when the bin wagon is  regularly driving on the pavement to get past the parked vehicles on the other side of the street.
