Much of our countryside road network is not safe to drive on at high speed due to its narrow and winding nature. It’s impossible to know what’s round the next bend and to take evasive action at high speed. It would be great to be able to enjoy our countryside without the real fear of being hit by a car.

Our speed limits make no sense especially on rural roads. At a time when our government is encouraging people to be more active why not designate the cycle routes (promoted by DED!) to be quiet ways with reduced speed limits. Parts of rural Scotland have done this with 70%+ approval from village residents on these routes who were sick of speeding vehicles.
