Appropriate speed limits

On a recent trip to Wales, I noticed that it wasn’t difficult to stick to the speed limits because they were appropriate to the road and the residential areas. I feel that locally we have long swathes of 30 mph limits, that are not appropriate. I have no objection to speed limits as long as they are for the shortest distance to maintain safety, not just joining one slower speed requirement to the next. It creates frustration for drivers and that long stretch at 30 mph from Crosby through to the outskirts of Glen Vine is painful.

Why the contribution is important

Because when drivers are restricted for such long periods there is a tendency to switch off. Altering speed limits up and down appropriately encourages greater concentration.
