20 MPH SPEED LIMIT PEEL PROMENADE PROTECTING EXCITED CHILDREN & STOP HUGE VEHICLES PARKING THERE

Peel Promenade has ice cream shops, all the way along on the opposite side of the road to the beach. Also Holiday Cottages across the road from the beach.

Buses, wagons, heavy vehicles, vans, as well as normal traffic  are dangerous to little children who rush about in excitement  crossing the road, getting ice creams, back to the beach and  generally playing.

Children need protecting from the traffic which is dangerously fast moving all along the promenade and also from large parked vehicles round which they can not see.

Parked vehicles between which the children need to move are dangerous  enough but taller  bigger vehicles reduce visibility even to parents!

Let’s protect our little children and also our  holidaymakers on the promenade.  And our dogs!

Why the contribution is important

Health and safety is used  often as an excuse, but in this case it is a matter of HEALTH AND SAFETY

The most precious people on this Island are the little children so let’s change the speed limit to 20 miles an hour and put in speed bumps  as soon as possible  please.

The promenade is very narrow because of the cars parked on both sides of the road -  parking is necessary but:

Larger vehicles could use the car park at the far end of the promenade where the Creg Malin used to be - it’s completely free.

Also they could actually park overnight and in the daytime at the far end  of the promenade where the swimming pool used to be as well.

There is plenty of room and there are no ice cream shops or beach up there so no children.
