Political pressure

Politicians need to step back in order to give the health service time to breathe.  There are constant questions asked abouth minutiae which means that staff are being taken away from their duties to provide answers to those questions.

There have been decisions made in the past, because of political pressure, re. treatment for a constituent "shouting the loudest".  This is a costly precedent, not based on clinical recommendations, and one which impacts massively on the budget.

Why the contribution is important

Clinical not political recommendations should form the basis of treatment and politicains should be made aware of the impact on both staff time and budgets resulting from such political questions and pressure.
