Off island cancer treatment

My idea is simple, transfer ( the majority) of our off island cancer care/expertise from Liverpool to the Christie Manchester.

Why the contribution is important

Cancer is a frightening disease to cope with, and it is natural that patients' will check (usually on line) to see which hospitals offer the very best treatment options for their particular disease. Having checked this out for my own disease,(NHL) and, indeed, other cancers' I found that the Christie offers a far wider range of treatment options and drug trials than does The Royal Liverpool. For example, the Christie has the latest proton beam therapy coming on line this year. Surely, it is all about giving our people the best treatments available, this move would reassure the patient that they are getting the best. and not simply having to use Liverpool because "....we always have."We have to begin thinking outside the box.

At present I travel with my husband backwards and forwards to Clatterbridge for his cancer treatment and care which I am sure must cost a great deal of money to the Manx Government. Could a lot of this treatment not be done on Island?
