Intergrated care hub

The Ramsey Cottage District Hospital works well as an integrated care hub and it would be great to see more of this happening in different areas of the Island.

Why the contribution is important

To help improve the quality of care and services provided to those who live outside of Douglas.

Where is the integrated care hub that was promised for the West?

I worked in the UK in a sub rehabilitation unit (9 bedded rehab unit), this worked well in Hertfordshire. They had 4 weeks stay and if the clients were none weightbearing, then the 'rehab clock' didn't start until they could. Currently working with clients directly in Nobles, those who live in the south do not want to go to RDCH because 'it's too far' for rehabilitation. If we are to promote activity, independence and safety then we should consider another rehab unit else where or sub rehab units to meet the needs of the population.

I live in Ramsey so we are very fortunate to have the Cottage Hospital, with all its facilities, nearby.

It is sometimes difficult to get an appointment, particularly first thing in the morning but otherwise I have had excellent care, including dietary and incontinence problems.

Appointments at Noble's can be tricky if you don't drive or can't get a lift as we need to go via Peel or Douglas to get to the hospital.

Leave Ramsey Cottage Hospital alone. You have taken enough away. It was a very effective hospital offering great service to local people - physiotherapy, small ops dept, visiting specialists (varied) to mention just a few.

As someone who used to work at the Ramsey Cottage I have heard unfavourable reports recently, from staff and patients, re. the "takeover" by Nobles .

Islander people have to travel to Ramsey hospital for sick treatment. Wish to have in a central location.
