Dedicated EMS Helicopter

The IOM should have a dedicated EMS Helicopter offering an island to the mainland direct critical care service. A local company could set up this service and then operate it on the part of the Government.

Why the contribution is important

A dedicated EMS helicopter would significantly improve the survival rates in severe trauma cases that are currently not able to be managed resulting in fatalities or are having to be routed through road and fixed wing resources to the UK mainland adding time to the critical initial phase of treatment.

Helicopters are expensive to run, but consideration of whether this services could be delivered efficiently and cost effectively for the Island is definitely worthwhile. Why do we currently have a helicopter that cannot fly off the IOM?
