When a decision is made about the clinical care of a patient the information provided to the patient should include the name of the person making this decison 

Too often decisions are made about for example waiting times for out-petient appointments which contradict the decision of the clinican taking care of the patient, However the manager making these decision is usually never identified and when local resolution takes place they can never be found.    

Why the contribution is important

When managers take clinical decisions contraty to the consultants advice they should take responsibility for the outcome. This leads to better decision making, better governance and transparency in the care of the patient which in turn leads to improved care.

    How many staff in the Hospital know or even recognise the Hospital Manager? Not many, mainly some senior staff. The lack of access to management has been going on a long time. It's about leadership. Staff mobilise when they have good,strong,supportive leadership.But if they don't even know who it is then they feel like a ship without a rudder. Improving culture takes leadership and skill,not money. Put all senior managers on a personnel development course,maybe ran from HR.Or maybe not,not good role models. The college must have staff who teach such things. It should be refreshed yearly.Or monthly for some.
